What is a histamine allergy

Use exactly as directed on the label, or as prescribed by your doctor. Do not use in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended. Cough or freezing medicine is generally taken only for a short time until your symptoms clear up.

Always enquire a doctor before giving a cough or freezing medicine to a child. Death can happen from the misuse of cough and freezing medicines in extremely young children.

Shake the oral suspension (liquid) well just before you measure a dose.

Measure the liquid with a special dose-measuring spoon or medicine cup. If you do not own a dose-measuring device, enquire your pharmacist for one.

This medication can affect the results of allergy skin tests. Tell any doctor who treats you that you are taking an antihistamine.

Call your doctor if your symptoms do not improve after 7 days of treatment, or if you own a fever with a headache, cough, or skin rash.

Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat.

Do not use Tannic S if you own used an MAO inhibitor in the past 14 days.

A dangerous drug interaction could happen.

MAO inhibitors include isocarboxazid, linezolid, methylene blue injection, phenelzine, rasagiline, selegiline, tranylcypromine, and others.


What happens if I miss a dose?

Since Tannic S is used when needed, you may not be on a dosing schedule. If you are on a schedule, use the missed dose as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose. Do not use additional medicine to make up the missed dose.


What is Tannic S?

Carbetapentane is a cough suppressant.

Chlorpheniramine is an antihistamine that reduces the effects of natural chemical histamine in the body.

Histamine can produce symptoms of sneezing, itching, watery eyes, and runny nose.

Tannic S is a combination medicine is used to treat cough, sneezing, runny nose, and watery eyes caused by allergies or the common cold.

This medication will not treat a cough that is caused by smoking, asthma, or emphysema.

Tannic S may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

An accumulation of histamine and mast cells is found in IBD and gastrointestinal food allergy.

Histamine may exert a wide range of proinflammatory and immuno-regulatory effects, particularly if this amine isn’t degraded enzymatically within short time.

In this study the enzyme activity of diamine oxidase (DAO), one of the main histamine catabolizing enzymes, was investigated in patients with food allergy and ulcerative colitis, idiopathic ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s Disease. The enzyme activity was sure in the homogenate of the biopsy using 14C-putrescine (substrate) during 60 minutes.

This analysis of the DAO activity demonstrates that the oxidative capacity of gut mucosa to rapidly degrade histamine, is impaired in food allergy and IBD, suggesting that histamine may further enhance mucosal inflammation.

Th2 dominated disease as food allergy and ulcerative colitis are found to be at a higher risk to loose DAO from epithelial cells during inflammation and to exhibit more elevated tissue histamine levels than Crohn’s Disease. The reduced activity of DAO also suggests to use histamine-poor or -free diets and antihistamines during acute phases of mucosal inflammation.

Abstract:

Dimebon, originally developed as an anti-histamine drug, is being re-purposed for new indications as an effective treatment for patients suffering from Alzheimers and Huntington ’ s diseases, albeit with an as-yet unknown mechanism of action.

We own performed molecular pharmacology profiling of this drug on a panel of 70 targets to characterize the spectrum of its activity, with the goal to possibly elucidate a potential molecular mechanism for the re-purposing of this drug candidate. We show that in addition to histaminergic receptors, Dimebon exhibits high affinity to a constellation of other receptors; specifically serotonergic, alpha-adrenergic and dopaminergic receptors. Excellent correlations with published literature were obtained for the affinity of Dimebon to inhibit butyrylcholinesterase, interact with H1and H2 receptors (Ki = 2 nM and nM), and to block histamine-induced calcium fluxes in cells.

Within serotonergic receptor subtypes, Dimebon shows highest affinity for 5-HT7 (Ki=8 nM) and 5-HT6 (Ki=34 nM) receptors, with the relative affinity rank-order of 5-HT7 > 5-HT6 &#x; 5-HT2A = 5-HT2C > 5-HT1A = 5-HT1B > 5-HT2B=5-HT3. Dimebon also interacts with adrenergic receptor subtypes (rank-order: 1A (Ki = 55 nM)= &#x;1B &#x; 2A (Ki = nM) = 1D), and dopaminergic receptor subtypes (rank-order: D1=D2S=D2L (Ki nM) > D3&#x;D > D&#x;D). These results protest a molecular pharmacological basis for re-purposing of this drug to new therapeutic areas. The informed targeting of the combined molecular target activities may provide additional advantages for patients suffering from similar diseases syndromes.

Understanding the role that diverse pathways frolic in diseases with complicated etiologies may permit for the rational design of multi-target drugs.

it was ok

This is a mediocre introduction to Histamine Intolerance at best. I had high hopes for this book as the author has been recommend to me by online support groups for mast cell activation disorder. I was hoping it would be a go to reference for every things related to histamine intolerance, instead it’s more love a pamphlet in terms of content. Had I known I would own waited for her upcoming book, Histamine Intolerance: the Finish Guide for Medical Professionals.

Maybe I am too well read on the subject but every of this information is better explain in blogs on internet, even the food list is vague and contradicts other list I was hoping it would at least offer tips on how to start diet but is one of those books that constant hints you need to seek professional dietician. I only gleamed one of two nuggets of useful information and was left wanting to study more. Even her references were mostly to articles she has published. To be fair I also bought her book Dealing with Food Allergies and it looks love a wonderfullly laid out book to assist uncover food intolerances but has only short chapter on histamine.

Sigh.
